)
2 editions published in 2005 in English and held by 4 libraries worldwide Pakistani-born artist Shahzia Sikander shows and comments on examples of her paintings, installations and video work, placing special emphasis on the fact that, in spite of her art school studies of Hindu and Persian miniature painting (a genre which has historically been grossly misinterpreted by the Western art world), her work is inspired by, but not derivative of, traditional genres. She also comments on the problem of being viewed through the lens of multiculturalism and being identified as a female Muslim artist whether or not she chooses to define herself so narrowly.
