2 editions published in 2000 in English and held by 1 library worldwide Albert Chong interviews visiting artist Dinh Q. Lê, a Vietnamese photographer who has lived 15 years in the United States but now returns frequently to Vietnam. His unusual style of weaving photographs together is done with the same technique as that used by his Vietnamese relatives weaving grass mats. His works are a metaphor for negotiating between two cultures. Content is sometimes religious iconography, a reacting between Christian and Buddhist.

1 edition published in 2005 in Lao and held by 1 library worldwide Tiao Somsanith co-ordinated with Dinh Q Le, a Vietnamese artist who has previously worked with communities of weavers in his native Vietnam , and Dr Catherine Choron-Baix, a French anthropologist, to revive this endangered tradition and to explore its potential in a contemporary context. Gold thread embroidery was once practised at the royal court of Luang Prabang, and the garments it decorated were worn by kings and queens. Prince Somsanith is a descendent of the last viceroy of Luang Prabang. The embroiderer bears witness to the technical and symbolic richness of his art and to his dual struggle both to preserve a unique heritage and to rebuilt his own life in exile. This documentary follows the artist in his work as he presents ancient techniques and the symbolic meanings underlying one of the Laotian court's crowning ornaments.
